To avoid looking too ‘done’, many women (and men) are eschewing surgery for non-invasive options that use cutting-edge techniques, for a softer, more gentle approach to beauty – of which famous faces like Amal Clooney and Kate Winslet are the poster girls for. Our experts find out more about the future of the quick beauty ‘tweakment’.
New data from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) has revealed that facelifts for women have fallen by 44 per cent in a year, while brow lifts are down by almost one third.
Secret Weapon: Trinity Facelift in 60 minutes.
Motto: The new way to age smart.
With more women are opting for the less downtime option, ‘tweakments’ have become the go-to for those looking to reverse the hands of time in a natural and safe manner.
“Patients are increasingly opting for swift, non-surgical procedures,” advises Dr Kenneth Lee, founder of SW1 Clinic. “With the advent of improved aesthetic technology leading to even better skin tightening results, young, professional women in their twenties, thirties and forties are opting for no-downtime lunchtime treatments.”
As we age, skin loses its natural elasticity around the mouth and pre-jowl sulcus. As a result, the face becomes tired looking and can age you beyond your years. No wonder women are flocking to these youth-enhancing treatments even before the signs of ageing appear, to stave off the ravages of time.
How does it work? Trinity facelift program is an upgrade of the traditional skin tightening treatments which focuses narrowly on improving only one aspect of the skin. Understanding that our skin undergoes global aging from the inside out, Trinity Facelift program combines skin smoothening Thermage with deep lifting Ulthera for a holistic tightening response. This is ideally paired with Sygma Lift, a quick acting skin firming treatment. With a full face treatment giving overall rejuvenation, special focus can be given to targeted areas such as the jaw line to pull the skin upwards creating more defined, smooth features. This treatment lasts for 12 months versus a surgical facelift which can last up to 10 years, but there is no downtime.
Secret Weapon: A-list cheekbones in just 30 minutes.
Motto: Insta-cheeks with no down-time and no bruising.
“As we age, fat deflates, causing your fat compartment to droop. Complexions appear longer, gaunt and lack volume and luminosity,” says Dr Low Chai Ling, co-founder of SW1 Clinic.
Avoiding the inflated pillow ‘filler’ look which tends to puff the cheeks out, Cheek sculpting treatment positions filler deep on the bones to accentuate cheekbones. In doing so, the process pulls the lower face upwards and tightens the jawline, nasal folds and marionette lines, delivering A-list cheekbones in minutes. “The goal is not to give a puffed up appearance. Rather, it is more about accentuating cheekbones and giving the face added definition. In certain cases, judicious position of cheek sculpting fillers can give the face a more lifted appearance” says Dr Low

Secret Weapon: Baggy eyelid correction and lower lid rejuvenation without cutting the skin.
Motto: Quicker than cosmetic surgery. It can take as little as 15 minutes.
Neogen PSR is a technique that delivers a controlled and focused micro-plasma beam to the target area area, causing sublimation – the process of turning a solid into gas. This works to stimulate and tighten skin fibres, resulting in firmer and more youthful looking skin.
Unlike the older generation of lasers, Neogen uses plasma, so there is no electric current, allowing you to treat the eye area where techniques such as radio-frequency and laser can’t. It is also much quicker than invasive surgery and doesn’t require any cutting of the skin. The treatment is suitable for all skin types and is particularly good for those to want to correct baggy eyelids and deep set puffiness.
“I particularly like to use on the lower eyelid to improve skin laxity. With higher powers, there could be some downtime of 2-3 days but the results are visible and most patients find that it is a good option for those who don’t want surgery but want results,” says Dr Chua.
